“City of the Cell”
Cells are the basic functional unit of all living beings—at the time of Darwin these were thought to be simple bags of protoplasm. Since then, we have found that these microscopic entities contain nanotechnology and complex machinery at a level of sophistication that we cannot begin to understand, let alone duplicate. In our view, it is scientifically impossible that these cellular cities could have evolved through an undirected and random process of mutation of genetic material and natural selection of better-adapted individuals. The only logical explanation is the intervention of an intelligent agent, whether through theistic evolution, intelligent design, creation, alien intervention (according to some) or a combination of the above. Which a person subscribes to is a question for individuals to decide. This decision-making process is best facilitated through accurate and clear information.
Therefore, through the production and presentation of this book, AITSE will endeavor to make the complex systems in cells understandable to all. It is our hope that City of the Cell will be an invaluable resource to teachers, students, and indeed anyone who just wants to know more about the wonders of the nanotechnology in us!
